The Problems & Our Solutions
Underreporting of Mental Health Issues
Research suggests that men are less likely than women to seek help for mental health issues and are more likely to underreport symptoms.
Many other accredited sources claim that men’s mental health is at an all-time low - with a lack of resources and a poor attitude typically attributed to seeking help.
This is a major issue, and one we feel most strongly about at KINGS PIECE. Amidst a sea of brands, few take a holistic and genuinely caring approach to men’s mental well-being. But something we often overlook as a society is the way in which men naturally like to convey their issues and problems.
Our Solution?
Although encouraging men to go to therapists and open up to family members is great, it's not as easy as it seems. It's also not the preferred method for everyone. So what should we do instead? Well, let's create a place where men can organically let their issues unravel - creating events in local communities where men can meet and work together towards a common objective, allowing them to bond and develop a feeling of closeness with their peers. Over time, this can help men develop deeper connections, letting men be men in an organic environment that would allow them to speak to others, whether that's for advice or to simply just to speak to others that are willing to lend an ear.
Men's Suicide Rates
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), globally, men are approximately three times more likely to die by suicide than women. 75% of who take their own lives are men! Its also the biggest cause of death in men under 50
This means there's a serious issue with how men see themselves and function within our current environment
Our Solution?
Let's create purpose. Purpose doesn't always mean being the macho, pinnacle of success type of man, but rather it can be as small and impactful as playing an important role in a community that completes a meaningful objective.
Suicide effects fathers, sons, brothers… basically all types of men. Therefore, family isn't the only form of purpose for men. Men love to have a purpose that's both for their family and for an overarching communal goal, as this makes them feel seen, appreciated and respected. So, let's find a way of doing this for all communities across the country.
Cultural Factors
Cultural Factors: Research published in the American Journal of Men's Health has found that cultural norms around masculinity can influence men's attitudes towards mental health, with some men perceiving seeking help as a sign of weakness or a threat to their masculinity.
Our Solution?
Well, its easier said than done. The first step is creating environments for men to be men in all of their weird and wonderful ways. This is a strong step in letting men be emotionally open in a way that suits them through organic interaction, bonding and fostering meaningful relationships.
Providing a meaningful platform and partnering with organisations that help educate and guide men is key in boosting their perception of how important they are to the world around them. Many men feel lost, therefore, helping them create, fulfil, and work towards a purpose that they find meaningful will increase the likelihood of seeking help and having a better mental wellbeing.

From An Idea To Reality.
HOW KINGS PIECE FIRST STARTED
Our story began during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, when two 19-year-old boys me being named Bradley & Sean my best friend and partner in crime decided we wanted to do more with our lives - two visionaries who wanted to have an impact on the world in some way.
Kings Piece started out mainly selling boxer briefs with a slight personal development touch. However, we always had plans to expand our product range and have our boxers as a limited edition product only for those who really seek to be ambitious and exceed their limits, so we decided to commit fully to being a personal development brand. We turned it into a business where our unique products not only look good and work well, but also help you grow personally. It's all about creating opportunities for self-improvement through purpose-driven gear.
The first idea had sparked from a moment of curiosity, as I (Bradley) looked at my underwear and thought, what if we could make underwear mean something? What if they meant more than just a haven for the crown jewels? (pun absolutely intended there!) What if we can ignite a fire inside people when they first put their boxers on in the morning? And thus Kings Piece was born.
However, due to the pandemic and the shutting down of factories that idea would be shelved, remaining in its early stages of brainstorming until the end of 2021. This was when the long and gruelling process of finding a manufacturer began. Indeed, finding someone who would do a small first order of approx. 300 boxers with our unique waistband design would prove to be challenging. It was an arduous process, but turning up every day and working on our dream regardless of the outcome made it worth it. We sold our first pair of boxers just a few months after our 2023 July Launch and the rest is history.
For us, KINGS PIECE was more than just a passion project, it was a deep calling to help others become more aware of their purpose. To encourage others to be on a continuous path of self-development. To be ever-evolving, so that you can be proud of the kingdom you built for you, your family and your community.
